Partial knee replacement

The knee joint can be divided into 3 compartments that can experience wear. These are the medial (inner) Lateral (outer) and Patellofemoral (knee cap). Rather than replacing the whole knee join with a total knee Replacement we replace just the worn compartment of the joint, preserving the non-affected parts of the knee and maintaining the supporting ligaments.

Total knee replacement

When more than one part of the joint is worn out I would perform a total knee replacement. The function of the knee after this procedure is still very good however some patients are still not fully satisfied. We are therefore constantly looking at ways of improving this procedure.
